Broad River Farm is nestled in the foothills of northeast Georgia in the small town of Carnesville, Georgia.  It is owned and operated by Wayne and Carrie Ertzberger, farm manager is Jacob Holmes.  Wayne and Carrie have two sons, Tyler and Austin.  Austin is currently attending ABAC (Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College of Georgia) seeking a degree in Animal Science that he will bring back to the farm to continue the family tradition.  Carrie teaches 4th grade at a local elementary school and has been teaching for 18 years.  Wayne teaches welding at the local high school and has been teaching for 28 years.

Wayne began Broad River Farm 24 years ago with only 6 acres he inherited form his Granddaddy Dow.  Currently, the farm contains over 400 owned acres and over 1,000 acres of leased land.  The farm runs about 400 momma cows.  Austin’s focus is on show cattle and supporting the next generation of showmen and women.  Jacob focusses on the herds and production of bulls.  He oversees the daily maintenance, feeding, genetic reproduction, and everything else required on a farm.

Jacob and his wife Sarah joined Broad River Farm 7 years ago when the daily upkeep of the farm grew to be too much for the Ertzberger’s to handle on their own.  They have two wonderful children: Harper-2 and Carter 2 months.  Sarah is also an FFA teacher at a neighboring county.

Broad River Farm is a part of a yearly bull sale each December in Nashville, Georgia – “The Source.” The family hosts a yearly show cattle sale in March at Broad River Farm – “The Best of the Broad.”

Three years ago, Broad River Farm was honored to join the Thomas Angus Ranch genetics by purchasing 85 Registered Angus cows.  Rob and his crew have been an honor to work with and very helpful along the way.  Broad River Farm looks forward to many more years of partnership with Thomas Angus Ranch Family.
