Dear Friends,
We are excited to welcome you to our 50th Oregon Fall Bull Sale. This is a historic moment for our operation and we are humbled to have you join us. We would not be here without you. We are humbled and thankful for your support and continued interest in our genetics over the years.
Although this is the 50th anniversary of our fall sale, this year’s lineup is a result of well over 70 years of genetic selection and management efforts. These progeny are some of the best in the breed – sires designed to be extremely adaptable and produce high-value calves. It is this consistent quality that has garnered the support it takes to operate a ranch for over 70 years and have 50 successful annual fall bull sales.
The past 49 sales have been filled with memories. These memories include those who have guided us, hard lessons learned, and our growth both as a family and as a business. Our ranch rests upon the shoulders of those who made our way of life possible:
- Our Lord: we believe nothing we have achieved is purely from our doing but through the many blessings we’ve received. We treat our land, our cattle, and our customers as such – blessings not to be taken for granted.
- Our Founders: Bob & Gloria Thomas – the parents of Rob, Beth, Kris, and Sue – who created not only a legacy in the Angus industry, but also fostered strong connections to cattle producers across the world.
- Our Family: from Bob and Gloria’s children to grandchildren and beyond, Thomas Angus Ranch is and will continue to be a family operation that has benefitted from hard work and the guidance of our family.
- Our Friends: from Hawaii to Brazil and from Oregon to Texas, we have built great friendships with cattle ranchers around the globe. These friends have invested in us – giving us lessons in business, science, and ethics. We would not be where we are today without their insights.
Over the past 50 years, our business has seen a lot of change, as technology has advanced and better management practices have been discovered. We at Thomas Angus Ranch were one of the first cow-calf operations to lean heavily into artificial insemination, a technology which allowed for more rapid genetic progress and inclusion of a greater variety of sires. Today, we are focused on improving cattle feed efficiency and profitability by adopting feed intake technology among other innovations.
One thing that will never change, however, is our dedication to providing quality genetics to our customers. Thank you for being part of the Thomas Angus Ranch legacy. Here is to 50 more years!
Sincerely,
Rob & Lori Thomas
