Our Letter to You

Dear Friends,

These are very exciting times in the cattle business.

Not only are we seeing record-setting prices every day, we have been extremely gratified to see Thomas bred calves at the top of almost every market. It’s a testament to the fact that hard work, careful planning, and love for what we do are still our greatest strengths.

What gives us so much satisfaction is the totality and consistency of our current genetics. We produce sound, good-footed cattle. We produce feeder cattle and entire cowherds that are high-output and low-input, due to the importance we place on feed efficiency in our work with both bulls and females. Lot #1 in this sale is perhaps the best example of this, as one of the most feed-efficient bulls that we have ever produced. Our product isn’t just efficient, though. Our feeder cattle are once again hitting record highs in the percentage of prime and upper two-thirds choice in carcass quality, which is why our feeder cattle consistently fetch the highest premiums.

Of course, this hasn’t happened overnight. We are a family owned, managed, and operated ranch, just like many of yours, and we have seen our values of courage, self-reliance, honesty, integrity, and respect for others tested and strengthened over the last 75 years. We know that many of you share those values, and understand what they mean for our dedication to deliver the highest quality product to you.

That means we have also adjusted and adapted, using the best and most developed tools at our disposal in delivering our product, including a state of the art feed intake system, DNA tools, an extensive IVF embryo transplant program, and collecting and tracking real world data on production and carcass traits in a growing environment like yours.
